There are a number (127) of named neighborhoods in the District of Columbia. Some of them are well-known outside of the District, like Georgetown, DuPont Circle, and Anacostia. Some have odd names like Swampoodle, Sursum Corda (Latin for "lift up your hearts" - part of the Mass), and Civic Betterment. Others, like Southwest and East Corner, are purely descriptive, and still others sound like cookie-cutter suburbs: Manor Park, Hillcrest, Spring Valley, and so on. Don't believe me? Look on the map!
Now, am I going to explore them all? No, of course not- there are 127 of them! Even if I only visit half, I'll have all sorts of work cut out for me...and eventually, I may write up some neighborhood reviews, which I'll link to on this page.
